Agartala, 2nd September 2025:  Hours after Tipra Motha legislator Philip Kumar Reang raised concerns over a late-night incident at the MLA Hostel, Tripura Police assured that the matter was under control and necessary security measures were being reviewed.

Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag, accompanied by senior officials including IG (Law and Order) Manchak Ipper and Additional SP (Urban) Dhruv Nath, visited the hostel premises on Tuesday morning to take stock of the situation.

According to police, three individuals—who had entered the hostel premises as guests—were involved in a heated exchange with the MLA on Monday night around 10 pm. “The people have been identified. They had come as guests of someone. We are verifying the details and looking into what action can be taken,” the DGP told reporters.

Reang had earlier alleged that unidentified men, appearing to be intoxicated, had threatened him, raising questions about the safety of legislators inside the hostel. Responding to this, the police chief said that security arrangements at the facility were being closely monitored and would be further strengthened if required.

“Security personnel are already posted here. We are reviewing the arrangements to ensure such incidents do not recur,” Anurag added.
