Agartala, 14th February 2025: The Tripura Prakritik Gas Mazdoor Sangha today staged a deputation at the Tripura Natural Gas Company Limited (TNGCL) office in Gorkhabasti, calling for equal pay for equal work. The gathering saw active participation from Sangha members, who voiced their concerns about the disparities faced by irregular workers.
An activist from the Sangha highlighted the dedication of irregular workers who ensure the daily supply of cooking gas and fuel across Tripura. “Our workers provide essential services with unwavering dedication, yet they are not compensated fairly,” the activist stated.
The Sangha put forth six key demands during the deputation: Review and adjust the monthly salary scale based on the seniority, skill, and designation of employees, Implement an equal pay structure to ensure that workers performing the same tasks receive the same compensation, Reimburse travel expenses incurred by employees, taking into account the distance between their homes and the workplace, and Increase the standard of the salary scale to reflect the workers’ contributions and the rising cost of living.
The deputation aimed to draw attention to the urgent need for a fair and equitable pay structure for all workers under TNGCL, ensuring that their hard work and dedication are adequately rewarded.
