Tripura receives ₹240.5 Crore for urban planning reforms; CM Dr Manik Saha express gratitude to PM, FM

Agartala, 27th March 2025:   In a significant boost to urban development, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha announced on Thursday that the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, has sanctioned ₹240.5 crore to Tripura for achieving urban planning reforms. This funding is set to transform 20 Municipal and Nagar Panchayat areas across the state.

“This is a proud moment for Tripura. The funds will enable us to implement transformative projects that will enhance the quality of life for our citizens,” said Dr. Saha. He expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Manohar Lal for their unwavering support.

The allocated funds will be utilized for a range of projects, including: Water supply and flood management to address critical infrastructure needs; Solar-powered street lights and high mast lights to promote sustainable energy solutions; CCTV installation in all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) to enhance public safety; Water ATMs and market development to improve urban amenities; and Urban Anganwadi Centres and riverfront development to foster community welfare and beautification.

Dr. Saha emphasized that these initiatives align with the vision of “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India), showcasing Tripura’s commitment to progress and innovation in urban planning.

The announcement marks a pivotal step in Tripura’s journey towards sustainable and inclusive urban development.
