Tripura Remains Unaffected as Bharat Bandh Call Fails to Disrupt Daily Life

Agartala, 12th February 2026:  Normal life continued across Tripura on Thursday despite the nationwide general strike called by central trade unions and various workers’ federations. The bandh had little to no visible impact in the state, with daily activities proceeding as usual from the early morning hours.

The state government had earlier announced that all government schools, colleges, offices, and courts would remain open on February 12. True to this directive, attendance in both government and private offices was reported to be normal, while educational institutions also saw a healthy turnout of students.

Commercial activity across the capital city proceeded without interruption. Markets and business establishments operated as usual, with regular customer footfall throughout the day. Public transport services, including buses and private vehicles, ran smoothly, enabling residents and office-goers to commute without difficulty.

Traffic flow in busy areas, such as Battala, remained steady, and operations at the Chandrapur Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) were normal. Bus and jeep drivers reported for duty from early morning, and passenger movement largely mirrored a typical day. Although long-distance travel saw a slight dip, daily commuter traffic was consistent.

Security personnel were deployed at key intersections and other sensitive locations across the city to maintain law and order. However, no untoward incidents were reported.

A senior Tripura Police official confirmed the situation, stating, “Vehicles were moving on the roads, and offices, schools, and colleges remained open. Symbolic picketing was observed at 12 locations across the state, but otherwise, everything was normal, just like any other day.”
