Agartala, 31st July 2025: Brijesh Pandey, IAS, Revenue Secretary to the Government of Tripura, conducted an official visit to key meteorological installations in Agartala on Thursday, including the Meteorological Centre, Airport Meteorological Office (AMO), and the Doppler Weather Radar facility.
Officials from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Agartala, briefed the Secretary on the department’s existing infrastructure and the range of weather-related services currently being delivered across the state.
The visit also included detailed discussions on IMD’s upcoming expansion initiatives, such as the planned installation of 24 new Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) across Tripura. These additions are aimed at enhancing real-time data acquisition and improving forecasting accuracy. A proposal to install a new Doppler Weather Radar at Belonia was also presented to boost weather surveillance in South Tripura.
Revenue Secretary Pandey appreciated the department’s efforts and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to support the augmentation of meteorological infrastructure to improve early warning systems and disaster preparedness.
