Agartala, 21st January 2026: Tripura Statehood Day was celebrated with dignity and fervor on Wednesday at Rajarshi Kalakshetra, Udaipur, in a joint initiative by the Gomati District Administration and the District Information & Cultural Affairs Office. The day-long programme featured a series of events highlighting the state’s rich heritage and developmental journey.
The celebration was formally inaugurated by Gomati Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Debal Debroy. Among the distinguished guests were Assistant Sabhadhipati Sujan Kumar Sen, Udaipur Municipal Council Chairperson Sheetal Chandra Majumdar, District Magistrate Rinku Lather, Additional District Magistrate Subhash Chatterjee, and Deputy Director of the District Information & Cultural Office Ajay Dey, along with other senior officials.
During the commemorative discussion session, speakers reflected on the historic significance of Tripura attaining full statehood on 21 January 1972, marking a proud chapter in the state’s history. They emphasized Tripura’s socio-cultural traditions and its progress over the decades.
The programme included seminars, quiz competitions, and vibrant cultural performances. Students from various schools participated enthusiastically in the quiz contest based on Tripura’s history and heritage. The cultural segment showcased traditional dance, music, and recitation, bringing alive the state’s rich folk culture.
The presence of students and teachers from different institutions added to the festive atmosphere. Guests noted that such celebrations play a vital role in raising awareness among the younger generation about the state’s historical journey and cultural identity.
