Agartala, 19th November 2025: Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Wednesday clarified the state government’s position on the 8th Pay Commission and the 16th Finance Commission, urging people not to be misled by speculation circulating on social media.
Speaking to reporters, the minister said that the Central government constituted a committee on November 3, 2025, under the chairmanship of Justice Ranjana Prakash, and the panel has been given 18 months to submit its report on the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission. “Most states usually follow the commission formed by the Centre, and Tripura is also aligned with this process,” he stated.
Amid growing rumours regarding the 16th Finance Commission, Singha Roy made it clear that the state government has already submitted all required documents and details related to government employees to the Commission. “Not only that, we have also submitted all necessary reports concerning the 8th Pay Commission to the Centre,” he added.
The Finance Minister further informed that Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has been regularly discussing these issues with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and has also communicated with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure that the interests of Tripura’s government employees are well represented.
Singha Roy reiterated that the government is closely monitoring all developments at the central level and assured that employees will be kept informed as the process progresses.
