Agartala, 19th November 2025:   The death of eight-year-old Dipanwita Pal, a Class II student of Khudiram Bose English Medium School, has drawn the attention of senior leaders, who visited the grieving family to offer condolences and support.

Former Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik today met the bereaved parents at their residence. She listened attentively to their account of the incident and assured them that she stood firmly by their side. Bhoumik conveyed her deep sorrow over the child’s untimely death and promised to support the family’s demand for justice.

Later in the day, Member of Parliament Rajib Bhattacharjee also visited the family. Expressing profound grief, he described the incident as “extremely tragic” and prayed for the departed soul. Bhattacharjee extended his solidarity to the parents, emphasizing that the matter deserved serious attention.

The family has alleged negligence and inhuman treatment by a school teacher during a November 9 event, where students were reportedly forced to stand under the blazing sun for long hours. Dipanwita collapsed, suffered sunstroke and partial paralysis, and eventually succumbed despite medical treatment.

The leaders’ visits have amplified calls for a thorough investigation and strict action against those responsible. Local residents continue to express outrage, demanding accountability from the school authorities.
