Agartala, 10th September 2026 : The Tripura State Committee of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) on Thursday submitted a deputation to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Law and Order, alleging repeated attacks on SFI activists and students at various educational institutions across the state.
According to the memorandum, SFI activists have allegedly faced attacks both inside and outside educational institutions over the past two weeks. The organisation cited incidents at Charilam English Medium School, Bharatchandranagar School, MBB College, Ramthakur College and Ramkrishna College.
SFI claimed that FIRs and complaints have been lodged at the respective police stations in connection with several of the incidents, with the names and addresses of the alleged accused included in the complaints. However, the organisation alleged that no arrests have been made so far.
The student body said the alleged delay in police action has created a sense of insecurity among students and raised concerns over their safety on and around educational campuses.
The SFI further alleged that the democratic atmosphere in educational institutions is being eroded, with students facing restrictions on expressing their views, organising peacefully and participating in democratic activities.
The organisation also expressed concern over what it described as police inaction despite repeated incidents of violence, claiming that the situation is adversely affecting student safety and the democratic environment of educational institutions.
SFI urged the IGP, Law and Order, to take the allegations seriously and direct the concerned police officials to initiate prompt and effective action in the cases. It also called for measures to ensure the safety of students and protect democratic activities on educational campuses.
