Agartala, 24th March 2025:  Tourism Minister, Sushanta Chowdhury, has announced a major tourism development initiative aimed at placing the state’s tourism industry on the global map.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tripura is moving forward on the path of modernization, and Majlishpur is keeping pace with this progress.

As part of this initiative, a world-class eco-park will be developed in Sachindranagar Colony of Jirania at an estimated cost of Rs. 50 crore. The park will be modeled after Kolkata’s renowned Nicco Park, providing a state-of-the-art recreational space for both domestic and international tourists. The project has received approval under the central government’s ‘Swadesh Darshan 2.0’ scheme.

In a bid to expedite the project’s execution, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, along with Kolkata Nicco Park Managing Director Rajiv Kaul, President Rahul Mitra, and Arup Goswami, conducted an on-site visit today. They were accompanied by Tourism Department Secretary Uttam Kumar Chakma, local officials, and residents of the area.

Expressing his optimism, Chowdhury highlighted that the eco-park’s construction will create significant employment opportunities while enhancing the quality of life for the local population. “This initiative will not only boost tourism but also contribute to the socio-economic development of the region,” he stated.

The upcoming eco-park is expected to enhance Tripura’s appeal as a premier tourist destination, aligning with the state’s broader vision for sustainable tourism and infrastructure development.
