Agartala,14th June 2024 :: In a dramatic protest, trainers and trained youth demonstrated by hanging locks at the Pradhan Mantri Kushal Kendra near the bypass on Friday, demanding the immediate distribution of certificates and stipends promised under the Pradhan Mantri Vishwa Karma Yojana.

The protestors, frustrated by delays, are calling for the fulfillment of promises made to them. “We started our training at the Pradhan Mantri Kushal Kendra in March this year,” said one of the trained youths. “We were promised an allowance of Rs 700 per day, and upon completion, we were to receive a certificate and the money directly into our bank accounts.”

However, the reality has been starkly different. “Till now, we haven’t received our certificates or stipends,” another youth lamented. “We completed our training with the expectation that our efforts would be recognized and compensated as promised.”

Trainers at the center share similar grievances. “We have not been paid our due wages,” said one of the trainers. “Despite fulfilling our duties, we are left with no option but to protest by locking down the center.”

The demonstrators emphasized their demands for immediate action. “We demand that the certificates and stipends be provided as soon as possible,” stated a protestor. The protest has drawn attention to the broader issue of accountability and timely compensation in skill development programs, urging authorities to address and resolve these grievances promptly.
