Agartala, 18th September 2025: The 28th All-India Annual Convention of the national professional body Indian Buildings Congress (IBC) has been organized in Nagpur by the Maharashtra PWD and IBC Maharashtra Chapter. The convention was inaugurated by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. This year’s convention theme was “Viksit Bharat 2047 and Infrastructure Development.” In five sessions on the theme, eminent engineers from all over the country took participation in it and delivered their valuable speeches. At the closing sessions of the three-day event, the Annual General Meeting and the Council Meeting were conducted.
For the coming session, Er. Chinmay Debnath, former Superintending Engineer, PWD, Tripura, was elected All‑India President. Er. Debnath is Past President of The Institution of Engineers (India), Past Chairman of Indian Engineers Federation and vice‑president of the Institution of Public Health Engineers. The convention has elected six vice presidents Er. B. C. Tripathi, former Engineer‑in‑Chief, Odisha, Dr. Tuli Basar, former Chief Engineer, Arunachal Pradesh, Er. Salil B. Srivastava, Engineer‑in‑Chief, Chhattisgarh, Er. M. Nagaraj, former Executive Engineer, Karnataka, Er. C.B Ojha, Chief Engineer, Chandigarh, Er. Mayank Tilak, former SDG, CPWD, New Delhi Colonel (Dr.) Anand Mathialagan, former Chief Engineer, Military Engineering Services, New Delhi and Er. Rajeev Kumar, Chief Engineer, CPWD, New Delhi were nominated Honorary Secretary and Honorary Treasurer respectively. Five Executive Members were also nominated as Er. Binod Kumar Jha, former Superintending Engineer, Bihar; Er. Ranjit Kumar Majumdar (IAS, Retd.), former Director, Urban Development Department, Tripura, Er. Satyanarayan Mendu, former Superintending Engineer, Telangana, Er.S.D. Chandsure, former Executive Engineer, Maharashtra; and Founder‑President of IBC Er. O.P. Goel, former DG, CPWD, New Delhi.
From Tripura, Er. Biswajit Das, Executive Engineer, PWD, Tripura, and Er. Bapan Debnath, Consultant, were elected to the new IBC Governing Council. The authority has nominated Governing Council members as IBC Tripura Chapter Chairman Er. Bimal Das, former Chief Engineer, and Er. Sanjay Kumar Das, Chief Engineer, Tripura PWD (Buildings). Amidst the other dignitaries there were Er. Debabrata Debbarma, secretary of IBC Tripura centre and many others remained present in the event.
