Agartala, 21st May 2025 :  In a significant achievement for Tripura’s decentralized governance, the Paschim Majlishpur Gram Panchayat under Jirania RD Block has secured second place in a national-level competition, recognizing its outstanding service delivery at the grassroots level.

The honor, awarded by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, underscores Tripura’s growing prominence in efficient local governance. The state representatives will receive medals, certificates, and a cash prize of ₹5 lakh at the National Conference on e-Governance in Visakhapatnam, scheduled for June 9–10, 2025.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha lauded the achievement, emphasizing that Tripura’s Panchayati Raj institutions continue to set benchmarks in governance and public service. “This award is a testament to our commitment to empowering rural communities and ensuring effective governance at the grassroots level,” he said.

This recent accolade builds on Tripura’s stellar track record, as the state secured seven national awards last year for excellence in Panchayati Raj management—the highest in the country.

With continued advancements, Tripura’s Panchayati Raj system remains a model for participatory governance, strengthening local administration and service delivery across rural areas.
