Agartala,, 1st August 2024: The Sanyukta Kisan Morcha’s state unit organized a protest march in the capital city denouncing the recently presented Union Budget. The demonstration commenced in front of the Sanyukta Kisan Morcha office at Melarmath and culminated at Paradise Choumuhani in Agartala on Thursday where protesters symbolically burned copies of the budget.
“The central budget presented by the Finance minister on July 23 fails to address the legal guarantees promised by the Union Agriculture Minister to the Kisan Morcha in 2021,” said a leader of the Sanyukta Kisan Morcha, highlighting a significant grievance.
Protesters voiced their concerns, stating that the budget tramples on workers’ rights and neglects key promises. “This budget ignores the needs and rights of farmers and workers across the country,” added another leader.
In a united front, members of the Sanyukta Kisan Morcha and their supporters emphasized their discontent by setting fire to the budget documents, a symbolic act reflecting their frustration and call for action. “Today, we stand together to protest an unjust budget,” a protester declared, encapsulating the sentiment shared by many.
As the flames consumed the budget copies, the message was clear: the fight for farmers’ and workers’ rights continues unabated, with protests echoing across the nation.
