TSECL Approves Comprehensive IT/OT/IoT and Cyber Security Policy

Agartala, 29th March 2025:   In a significant move towards strengthening cyber security infrastructure, the Board of Directors of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) has approved a comprehensive “IT/OT/IoT and Cyber Security Policy.” The policy, developed in-house by TSECL engineers, was adopted under the Chairmanship of Abhishek Singh, IAS, Secretary (Power), Government of Tripura, with guidance from Biswajit Basu, Managing Director, TSECL.

This milestone decision aligns with the guidelines set by the Central Electricity Authority, Ministry of Power (MoP), and other relevant authorities. The newly approved policy is designed to provide a robust framework for safeguarding TSECL’s data, IT infrastructure, and consumers’ sensitive information from cyber threats and vulnerabilities.

The adoption of the policy is expected to bring extensive benefits to consumers, employees, and stakeholders. Consumers will experience enhanced security for personal data and online transactions, ensuring a safer digital experience. Employees will benefit from clear IT usage guidelines, mitigating risks associated with cyber threats and data breaches. Furthermore, stakeholders will gain from the increased transparency and accountability fostered by the policy.

TSECL’s IT/OT/IoT and Cyber Security Policy aims to Protect against cyber-attacks and data breaches, ensure compliance with regulatory mandates, Strengthen incident response and disaster recovery mechanisms, Improve employee productivity and efficiency through structured IT usage and Foster a culture of cyber security awareness within the organization.

The approval of this policy underscores TSECL’s commitment to delivering secure, reliable, and efficient electricity services to the people of Tripura. With the ever-growing cyber threats in today’s digital era, TSECL’s proactive stance in implementing a comprehensive cyber security framework marks a major step towards fortifying the state’s power sector against cyber vulnerabilities.
