Agartala, 16th July 2025 : Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) has issued a show cause notice to M/s TDS Management Consultants Pvt. Ltd., alleging gross negligence and breach of contract that led to substantial revenue loss for the corporation.
According to the notice, meter readers appointed by the agency under Khowai Electrical Sub-Division submitted average consumption readings for several consumers, despite the meters being fully functional and capable of recording actual energy usage. TSECL claimed that a comparative analysis of billing data revealed consistent underbilling, which directly impacted the corporation’s revenue.
The power utility stated that such actions were in clear violation of the terms of the contractual agreement. “This act violates the contractual agreement and demonstrates either gross negligence or deliberate misconduct by your meter readers in that area,” read the notice. It also reiterated that the agency was contractually obligated to ensure accurate meter readings from all functional meters, avoid average billing unless justified, and ensure that no action by its staff results in financial loss to the corporation.
TSECL has demanded a written explanation from the agency within seven days from the receipt of the notice, asking why penal action should not be taken against it as per the provisions of the contract agreement. The corporation has warned that failure to respond within the stipulated timeframe will lead to appropriate action without further communication.
The notice was issued with the approval of TSECL’s Managing Director.
