BY TC News Desk

Agartala, 17th August 2025:  The Twipra Students’ Federation (TSF), a constituent body of the North East Students’ Organisation (NESO), has announced a sit-in protest on Monday, August 18, at the Circuit House in Agartala to press for action against illegal migration in Tripura and the Northeast.

In a statement, TSF General Secretary Hamalu Jamatia informed that the protest will begin at 10 AM and will focus on safeguarding the rights, land, and identity of the indigenous people.

Appealing for wider participation, Jamatia urged civil society groups, student and youth organisations, and like-minded bodies to extend support.“Our collective voice is crucial to safeguard the future of the indigenous people of the Northeast. We urge everyone to come forward and strengthen this democratic movement for justice,” he said.

The TSF has long maintained that unchecked illegal migration poses a serious threat to the demographic balance, cultural identity, and constitutional rights of the indigenous population in Tripura and other northeastern states.
