Agartala, 18th July 2025: In a dedicated effort towards afforestation and environmental sustainability, the First Battalion of Tripura State Rifles (TSR) organized a large-scale tree plantation programme in Gakulnagar. The initiative was spearheaded by Battalion Commandant Bhanupada Chakraborty, who was joined by several senior officials.
More than 150 fruit-bearing saplings were planted during the drive, with active participation from officers and jawans. Highlighting the long-term benefits of the initiative, Commandant Chakraborty expressed hope that the trees would not only serve the battalion personnel but also benefit the surrounding wildlife by providing seasonal fruits. “Such programmes reflect our commitment to preserving the green cover while contributing to local biodiversity,” he said.
Emphasizing the favorable planting conditions of the current season, Chakraborty added that the battalion is conducting plantation drives in multiple phases. He also affirmed that steps have been taken to ensure the saplings are properly nurtured and maintained in the coming months.
