Agartala, 14th September 2026 : While remaining committed to their demanding duties of ensuring public safety, jawans of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) are also gearing up for Biswakarma Puja with enthusiasm and a strong spirit of community service at the 15th TSR Battalion camp in Saydabari, Kumarghat, Unakoti district.
With the festival approaching, preparations are underway across the camp. The jawans themselves are taking responsibility for every aspect of the celebration, from constructing the puja pandal and making the idol to painting and decorating the premises.
This year, the pandal is being designed in the form of an imaginative temple structure. The construction work is progressing rapidly, with jawans working in groups alongside their regular duties. Some are engaged in building the pandal, while others are involved in idol-making, painting and decoration.
15th TSR Battalion Commandant Nabadwip Jamatia said Biswakarma Puja is being organised at the camp this year as in previous years. He said the jawans have taken the initiative to complete all arrangements themselves within their available resources and a fixed budget.
The celebration will also carry a message of humanity and social responsibility. According to Jamatia, the jawans had distributed clothes among children at a local orphanage during Biswakarma Puja last year. Continuing the tradition, they have decided to distribute new clothes among poor and needy people in the locality this year as well.
Thus, alongside their challenging responsibilities of maintaining public safety, the TSR jawans are preparing to celebrate the festival while extending a helping hand to the underprivileged. The initiative has added a distinct touch of festive warmth and humanitarian spirit to the 15th TSR Battalion camp, which is already taking on a colourful new look ahead of Biswakarma Puja.
