Agartala, 5th February 2026 : In a bid to assess ground-level functioning, State Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma today carried out a surprise inspection of the Tribal Welfare Department. Arriving without prior notice, the minister toured various sections and offices of the department to review its overall functioning.
During the visit, the minister closely examined the department’s routine operations, quality of service delivery, and the attendance of officials and staff. He expressed satisfaction with the department’s overall management and performance, while also offering constructive instructions aimed at making services more efficient, responsive, and people-centric.
After the inspection, Minister Debbarma convened an impromptu meeting with departmental officials and employees. The discussion emphasized speeding up official work, ensuring swift redressal of public grievances, and strengthening transparency and accountability in service delivery.
Addressing the media later, the minister stated that the objective of the surprise inspection was to ensure that the benefits and services of the Tribal Welfare Department reach the people effectively and that service standards continue to improve. He further assured that such surprise inspections would be conducted regularly in the future.
Officials described the unexpected visit as administratively significant, noting that it reinforces the government’s commitment to efficiency, accountability, and improved public service delivery.
