Agartala, 27th May 2025: The Tipra Women Federation (TWF) wing of the Tipra Motha Party convened a significant press meet at the Palace Compound TMP office in Agartala today, drawing a large assembly of members who actively participated in the event.
The primary agenda of the press meet centered on allegations against Gomati District Magistrate (DM) Tarit Kanti Chakma, accused of disrespecting Bubagra, the Chairman of the ADC administration. According to the TWF unit, Bubagra had been attempting to reach the DM for a month but received no response. Frustrated by the silence, Bubagra, accompanied by CEM Purna Chandra Jamatia, visited the DM’s residence to discuss pressing public concerns. However, the DM reportedly refused to meet them, prompting Bubagra to leave feeling insulted.
TWF members strongly condemned Chakma’s conduct, deeming it undemocratic and unsuitable for a district administrator. They urged the state government to take immediate action against him, arguing that he lacks the qualifications to serve the people of Tripura.
Speaking at the event, TWF President Manihar Debbarma declared, “This DM is irresponsible and indifferent toward public representatives. His attitude is an obstacle to social progress. If the state government does not remove him within four days, TWF and YTF will launch office and block lock-up protests. If no action is taken within 96 hours, we will escalate our movement further.”
The press meet also saw the presence of several dignitaries, including Pabitra Bhakti Jamatia (Advisory Chairman), Gita Debbarma (General Secretary), Kajal Debbarma (Vice President), Binamala Debbarma, and other key leaders.
The TWF unit’s demands put pressure on the state administration, signaling potential unrest if corrective measures are not taken swiftly.
