Agartala, 1st June 2025: Acting on a confidential tip-off, Damcherra police arrested two individuals with a substantial amount of drugs and cash in Kaskau Para under North Tripura district in a late-night anti-drug operation. The operation was led by Officer-in-Charge Sanjay Majumdar and Additional Superintendent of Police Jerry Mia Dalang.
One of the accused Sanjib Debbarma (28) was found in possession of 33 grams of heroin powder and 800 Yaba tablets with an estimated market value of Rs 15 lakh. Additionally, police seized Rs 3,74,500 in cash from his residence. His accomplice Krishiram Reang (46), a resident of Kaskau Para was also arrested at the scene.
Confirming the arrest, a senior officer at Damchara Police Station stated, “A case has been registered under the NDPS Act, and preliminary investigations suggest the suspects may have links to a larger drug syndicate.”
Authorities emphasized their ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes under the “Nesha Mukta Tripura” (Drug-Free Tripura) initiative. Local residents have expressed concern following the incident, with many demanding increased surveillance and stricter enforcement in the region.
