Two Bangladeshi nationals arrested at Dharmanagar

Agartala, 11th August 2024:  Dharmanagar Police Station staff arrested two young Bangladeshi nationals at Ananda Bazar area in Dharmanagar. The individuals identified as Zafar Alam (24) and Roza Begum (20) were detained after attempting to flee upon spotting the police.

Zafar Alam and Roza Begum, both hail from Balukhali, Cox’s Bazar, Chittagong in Bangladesh. They reportedly entered India illegally seeking refuge from the unstable conditions in Bangladesh. Despite their efforts to evade capture, the strict security measures in place led to their arrest.

The police have stated that appropriate legal action will be taken against the detainees as per court orders. The incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by individuals fleeing instability in neighboring countries and the stringent measures enforced by Indian authorities to manage illegal immigration.
