Agartala, 15th September 2025: The eighth session of the 13th Tripura Legislative Assembly will be held from September 19 to September 23, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath announced today.
Addressing the media after the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting at the Assembly, Nath stated that the session has been summoned by Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu. With Speaker Biswabandhu Sen unwell, the Deputy Speaker will preside over the proceedings. The BAC meeting, chaired by Deputy Speaker Ramprasad Paul, was attended by delegations from BJP, CPIM, and Tipra Motha Party, while Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury was unable to attend due to personal reasons.
Nath emphasized that the session aims to facilitate discussions for the welfare of the people. He clarified that the session duration has been shortened to two days owing to Durga Puja, the state’s largest festival.
Four bills are scheduled for introduction: the Tripura State Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, the Tripura Jana Viswas (Amendment) Provision Bill, the Factories Bill, and the Tripura Shops and Establishments (Seventh Amendment) Bill. On September 19, the Assembly will conduct the Question Hour followed by the introduction of these bills, while September 23 will be dedicated to discussions on them.
As Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Tripura on September 22, there will be no House sitting that day, with business resuming the following day.Additionally, three private members’ resolutions will be considered through balloting. BJP MLAs Dipak Majumder and Ram Pada Jamatia, along with one CPIM legislator, have been allotted the opportunity to move their resolutions.
