Agartala, 24th July 2025: A Gurupurnima and Guru Felicitation ceremony was held at the small auditorium of Rajarshi Kalakshetra in Udaipur organized by the department of Information and Cultural Affairs in collaboration with Udaipur Municipal Council. The event celebrated the traditional guru–disciple relationship and felicitated two distinguished educators from Gomati district.
Retired Deputy School Inspector Nabakishore Jamatia and retired teacher Debal Bhattacharjee were felicitated as part of the ceremony recognizing their lifelong contributions to education.
District Deputy Director of the Information and Cultural Affairs department Ajay Dey delivered the welcome address. The event was inaugurated by local MLA Rampada Jamatia, who highlighted the importance of preserving the values of the guru–shishya tradition as depicted in ancient scriptures, urging the youth to embrace these ideals.
Among the notable attendees were social worker Sabita Nag, Sub-Divisional Police Officer and other dignitaries. The ceremony was chaired by Sujan Kumar Sen, Saha-Sabhadhipati of Gomati Zilla Parishad.
Speaking at the event, Sabita Nag emphasized the need to strengthen the cultural bond between students and teachers. Despite the significance of Gurupurnima, some criticized the ceremony for being conducted in a rather modest and perfunctory manner.
