Agartala, 8th May 2025: A domestic incident has stirred the Hadra area of Udaipur after a local woman, Sahida Khatun, allegedly eloped with a young man, leaving behind her children and a trail of unanswered questions. According to local sources, Sahida Khatun, a resident of Bejimara in Sonamura who had been living in Hadra since her marriage to Karam Ali 18 years ago, fled with Rubel Hossain, an auto driver from the same locality. The sudden disappearance has left the family shocked and distressed.
Karam Ali, who had recently gone to Saudi Arabia for business after marrying off their eldest daughter, had been regularly sending money to support his wife and three children. However, neighbors and family members had reportedly warned Sahida Khatun several times after they noticed her alleged growing closeness with Rubel Hossain. Despite multiple interventions and domestic meetings held within the community, she allegedly ignored all warnings.
The family has filed a written complaint at the Kakarban Police Station, claiming that Sahida Khatun took with her two gold bars and Rs 4 lakh in cash before absconding. She also left behind a 13-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son at home.
Police sources confirmed that a formal complaint has been received and an investigation is underway. Authorities are trying to trace the couple and verify the allegations made by the family.
