Agartala, July 2, 2023: Former minister and incumbent MLA Bhagaban Chandra Das on Sunday met with 11 injured persons who are undergoing treatment at GBP Hospital here and expressed his desire to stand beside the deceased and injured persons’ families in the coming days.
Speaking to media personnel after the visit, Das said “At present, 11 individuals are undergoing treatment. Among them, three are critical and rest 8 persons would be discharged in few days. The doctors and healthcare staff at state top referral hospital are providing good treatment.”
“In the meantime, I have assisted the families of deceased persons with a sum of Rs 50,000 to each family and Rs 10,000 to the injured families from my monthly allowances. Even, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb has announced financial assistance to these 18 persons’ families”, he said.
Former minister also said “Not only this, the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) also gave cash of Rs 1 lakh to deceased persons’ families and Rs 50,000 to the families of injured ones.”
Being asked about government’s and ISKCON’s stand for these affected families in the future, Das said “The Chief Minister during his visit on June 28 last at Kumarghat has already given assurance that his government will always stand by the side of these affected families and I, myself, will also be by their side. ISKCON authority also assured me that the affected families will be helped financially.”
It is worthy to mention here that the eleven individuals who are undergoing treatment at GBP Hospital were the victims of ‘Ulto Rath’ tragedy took place at Kumarghat on June 28 last.
