Agartala, 27th June 2025: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday said that the state government is making consistent efforts to fill up vacant posts across departments while also opening up avenues for new employment.
Speaking at an appointment letter distribution programme for the Education (School) and Health & Family Welfare departments at Muktadhara Auditorium, Dr. Saha said, “A total of 222 appointment letters have been issued today. All recruitments are being done in a transparent manner, and we will continue this in future. I congratulate the appointees and urge them to focus on implementing state and central government schemes effectively to ensure public benefit.”
Dr. Saha, who also holds the Education and Health portfolios, informed that so far, 19,484 jobs—including die-in-harness cases—have been provided by the state government. “Employment brings happiness to a family. We understand its importance. We are working to resolve public grievances and create new job opportunities. Over 5,700 jobs have also been offered through outsourcing, and under the National Career Service, 305 persons secured jobs in the 2024–25 fiscal year,” he said.
Highlighting the progress made, Dr. Saha said the unemployment rate in Tripura has come down drastically—from 10% in 2018–19 to 1.74% in 2023–24. “This shows that we are on the right path and are keeping our commitment to generate employment. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized capacity building for government employees. All new recruits will be given necessary training,” he added.
He further said that Tripura is the only state to have implemented e-Office from Cabinet to Panchayat level in record time. “Digitisation of files is underway to ensure better preservation and faster governance.”
On the education front, the Chief Minister said several key initiatives have been taken. “We are implementing the National Education Policy, introducing NCERT curriculum, and launching the ‘Super 30’ programme to strengthen academic performance. Additionally, we have decided to set up special coaching centres in every sub-division for Science and English. More general degree colleges and competitive exam centres are also being opened,” he said.
The event was also attended by Education Special Secretary Raval Kumar, Director of Secondary and Elementary Education N.C. Sharma, In-Charge Director of Family Welfare and Preventive Medicine Dr. Anjan Das, Director of Health Services Dr. Tapan Majumder, and Additional Secretary of Health Rajib Datta.
