Union DoNER minister G Kishan Reddy urges CAPSI to generate 3 lakh youths’ employment from NE states

Agartala, April 11, 2023: Union DoNER and Tourism minister G Kishan Reddy on Tuesday urged the organizer – Central Association for Private Securities of India (CAPSI) to chalk out strategies for employing 3 lakh youths from North Eastern states and make hub for safe and secured business environment.

Attending an event at Hotel Polo Towers here on Tuesday morning, Reddy quoted the words of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on focusing towards the progress of Northeast as India cannot develop without these eight states development.

“Priority of developing NE region has been given by the central government. To boost the developmental trend of this region and whole country, private securities’ companies had come forward. As PM Modi says, India cannot progress without NE region. CAPSI has become an important part in providing security services at all sectors. In the coming days, NE will be developed as a growth engine with the setting up of safe and secured business hub”, he added.

Reddy also said, “There has been an impressive development in this region. The tourism sector in NE region can become a global destination while it is also becoming the gateway of Southeast Asian countries. The central government under the leadership of PM Modi has spent Rs 5 lakh crore to set up world-class infrastructure in North Eastern region of India in the last eight and half years.”

“Since independence till 2014, there were nine airports functional in eight states from Independence to 2014. Currently, 17 airports are functioning. Investments in this region can become a bigger destination. The PM Modi-led government is spending Rs 2 lakh crore on roads and national highways’ construction,” he added.Claiming that people can seen the change, union minister said, “All NE states’ capital cities are connected with airways and highways while works are going on for railway connectivity. The central government is spending Rs 77 crores for railways. Currently, there are 25 operational tunnels and 121 tunnels are under construction. Three states of NE region were connected with railways after Modi-led government formed and by 2025, all states’ capitals will be connected.”

He also said, “Generation of employment is a problem while NE youths are becoming skilled. In last few years, the aspect of private securities have flourished. More than 1 crore people are engaged with security guards profession and 25 thousand organizations are working.”

Claiming private securities’ companies to play bigger role in near future, Reddy urged CAPSI to create an action plan for employing 3 lakh youths. Centre of excellence is being set up in each state of NE Region. Private securities companies can compete in entire NE region.

Union DoNER minister Reddy was accompanied by Industries and Commerce minister Santana Chakma, CAPSI’s chairman Kunwar Vikram Singh, president VV Katti, secretary general Mahesh Sharma and others. A good number of representatives and officials from private sector security companies from different parts of India including NE region were also present in this conclave cum governing council meet of CAPSI at Hotel Polo Towers here.
