Agartala, 3rd July 2026: Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Joint Secretary Meera Srivastava concluded a three-day visit to Tripura with an extensive review of healthcare delivery, implementation of national health programmes, and the quality of public health services across Unakoti, South Tripura, and Sepahijala districts.
The visit, which began on July 1, was aimed at assessing the progress of various flagship health initiatives, maternal and child healthcare, immunisation coverage, disease control programmes, and the overall functioning of health institutions.
On July 3, Srivastava visited Unakoti district, where she chaired a review meeting at the Kailashahar Circuit House with District Magistrate Megha Jain and the district’s Chief Medical Officer. She later inspected the Latiyapur and Deorachhara Sub-Centres, reviewing maternal and child health services, immunisation activities, National Health Mission (NHM) programmes, and grassroots healthcare delivery. She also interacted with frontline health workers and issued guidelines to strengthen accessibility, quality, and efficiency of public health services.
The delegation included Dr. Souvik Debbarma, Member-Secretary, NHM; Dr. Antara Banik, State Surveillance Officer (IDSP); Dr. Ishita Guh, State Programme Officer (RCH); and Dr. Randeep Saha, State Medical Officer, WHO.
Earlier, on July 2, the Joint Secretary reviewed health services in South Tripura, where she held a meeting with district officials in Belonia to assess vaccination coverage, malaria control measures, and the implementation of national health programmes. The team visited the Ayushman Arogya Mandir at Bashkadua, interacted with ASHA workers, inspected Belonia Sub-divisional Hospital, and also visited the India-Bangladesh border area to understand healthcare delivery challenges in remote locations.
On the same day, the delegation visited Sepahijala district, inspecting the Bashpukur Sub-Centre and interacting with frontline health workers. Srivastava appreciated the dedication of district health officials and stressed effective implementation of national health programmes to ensure quality healthcare services reach every citizen.
