Agartala, 27th February 2024: Union State Minister Pratima Bhoumik announced that Tripura will soon be connected to the rest of India by rail service, at a ‘Yuva Choupal’ held in Jaipur area of the capital on Tuesday. She said that Agartala Railway Station has been allocated Rs 240 crore to upgrade it to world standard.
She also said that the travel time from Agartala to Kolkata will be reduced from 32 hours to 10 hours, as the rail route will pass through Bangladesh. She added that the railway budget has been increased from Rs 63,000 crore to Rs 2.5 lakh crore.
Bhoumik praised the development work done by the Narendra Modi-led government, especially in the North East region, including Tripura. She said that the number of airports in the country has increased from 74 to 149, and from seven to 17 in the Northern Parv region, since 2014.
She criticized the Congress party for exploiting the country for 55 years before the current government, and accused them of being ignorant of the ground realities of Tripura. She asked how those who do not know their own country can rule the country.
The meeting was organized by the 7 Ramnagar Mandal Youth Morcha, and was attended by Pradesh Yuva Morcha president Sushant Deb and others.
