Agartala, 4th October 2025 :  Tension gripped the Monarchak Gram Panchayat area of North Shantinagar’s Ward No. 6 after unidentified miscreants vandalized a rubber plantation by deliberately cutting the tapping channels of several trees, rendering them unusable.

The plantation owner Priyabrata Pal found the damage early Saturday morning while tending to his grove. He reported that multiple rubber trees had their tapping channels slashed, making latex collection impossible and causing significant financial loss.

“This plantation is my only source of livelihood. The damage was clearly premeditated. They knew exactly how to cripple my production,” Pal said.

Local residents expressed outrage over the incident, alleging that similar acts of sabotage have occurred in the past without any decisive action from authorities. They fear the lack of accountability has emboldened the perpetrators.

Pal has filed a formal complaint with the local police. Law enforcement officials confirmed that they have visited the site and initiated an investigation.

Pal urged the administration to take swift action: “I appeal to the authorities to arrest the culprits immediately and ensure they face appropriate punishment.”
