VC Polls: BJP, Tipra Motha to coordinate campaigns and jointly address election-related issues, says Ratan Lal Nath

Date:

Agartala, 20th September 2026 : With the Village Committee elections under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) approaching, NDA alliance partners BJP and Tipra Motha have stepped up coordination to ensure a smooth and coordinated campaign at the grassroots level.

Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath said on Sunday that alliance partners would work together to address issues that may arise during the election process and coordinate campaigning wherever required.

Nath chaired the third meeting of the alliance partners on the upcoming Village Committee elections at the State Guest House. The meeting focused on the scope of joint campaigning, coordination between the constituent parties and mechanisms to resolve election-related issues collectively.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Nath said the alliance would not follow a uniform strategy across all areas. Instead, the decision to organise joint campaigns would be taken according to the local situation.

“Joint campaigning will not be necessary everywhere. We will decide where and how it should be conducted based on the circumstances at the local level,” he said.

The Minister said greater emphasis was being placed on direct public outreach, including door-to-door campaigns, courtyard meetings, house meetings, market meetings and small gatherings.

“These programmes are mainly being organised at the local level,” Nath said.

He added that Sunday’s state-level meeting was aimed at strengthening coordination among the alliance partners and discussing ways to jointly resolve difficulties encountered during the election campaign.

“The main objective is to mitigate the problems jointly,” the Minister said.

Nath also said the developments and decisions concerning the alliance’s election strategy were being kept in the knowledge of Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, BJP state president Abhishek Debroy and Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha.
