Agartala, 22nd October 2026 : Veteran journalist and writer Biman Dhar died on the spot in a head-on collision between a bus and a car in the Bagmа area of Tripura, triggering widespread concern and grief.
According to preliminary reports, Dhar was returning to Agartala when the accident occurred. His grandson was reportedly driving the car at the time of the collision.
The car collided head-on with a bus in Bagmа, resulting in Dhar’s death at the scene. His grandson sustained serious injuries in the accident.Following the incident, Dhar’s body was taken to Gomati District Hospital, where it was kept for further formalities.
Dhar was a well-known figure in the state’s journalism and literary circles. His sudden demise has cast a pall of gloom over the media fraternity and the literary community, with his death marking a significant loss for Tripura’s journalistic and cultural landscape.
