Agartala, 2nd October 2026 : Tripura State Election Commission has completed preparations for the counting of votes for the Village Committee elections, with counting scheduled to be held on October 5 at 45 centres across the state.
State Election Commission Secretary Anurag Sen said on Friday that counting would be conducted across 44 blocks, with Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) deployed at the counting centres to ensure security and maintain law and order.
Polling for the Village Committee elections was held on September 28.
According to Sen, most blocks will have a single counting hall, while Manu block will have two halls in view of the larger number of seats. Counting will be conducted either at the respective block headquarters or at other venues identified by the Returning Officers.
“All necessary arrangements have been made to ensure that the counting process is conducted smoothly,” Sen said.
He said elaborate security measures had been put in place at all counting centres and CAPF personnel would be deployed alongside other security forces to prevent any disruption during the counting process.The Returning Officers will announce the results on a round-wise basis as counting is completed in the respective blocks, Sen added.
Meanwhile, the State Election Commission has intensified preparations for the upcoming Urban Local Body (ULB) elections.Polling stations have been finalised for 21 urban local bodies, with a total of 783 polling stations identified across the state.
The draft electoral rolls for the ULB elections were published on October 1. As per the draft rolls, the total number of electors stands at 6,31,388, including 3,08,983 male voters, 3,22,360 female voters and 45 voters belonging to the third-gender category.
The draft rolls have been made available for public inspection at designated locations. Voters can submit claims and objections within the prescribed period.
The last date for filing claims and objections is October 8, while the final electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on October 15, Sen said.
