Agartala, 27th May 2025: Residents of SC Para under Mangalkali Gram Panchayat in the Jubaraj Nagar Assembly constituency have raised serious allegations of corruption and negligence against local authorities, as their main access road remains in a dilapidated condition for over four decades despite repeated assurances and the state government’s heavy spending on rural development.
The road, a lifeline for the villagers, has been a long-standing demand, yet remains untouched even as crores of rupees are being allocated under various development schemes. Locals claim that even though the current MLA, along with multiple officials, have visited the area and acknowledged the dire condition of the road, no action has followed. Written appeals and public pleas have gone unanswered, adding to the growing frustration of the community.
“Whenever someone falls seriously ill, we struggle to reach the hospital on time. The fire service can’t even enter the village during emergencies. How long do we keep waiting?” asked one of the residents, speaking to journalists who were called in today to highlight the issue.
The locals believe that funds sanctioned for road development may have been misappropriated and are demanding a probe into the panchayat’s functioning. The villagers have now publicly appealed to the Chief Minister of Tripura, Professor Dr. Manik Saha, urging him to intervene directly and ensure that the road is repaired without further delay.
As the issue gains attention, pressure is mounting on the local administration to respond and take action before public anger escalates further.
