Agartala, 12th July 2024:   Local residents near Jirania railway station in Tripura blocked the Silchar-Agartala bound passenger train, expressing their frustration over a recently closed road.

The closure was implemented by the railway department, which placed pillars to block the road crossing the railway line, sparking discontent among the villagers.

Around 4 PM, angered by the road closure, the residents took to the railway tracks near Jirania station, bringing the passenger train to a halt. This impromptu blockade led to significant disruption for travelers and raised immediate concerns from local authorities.

Upon receiving reports of the blockade, the Tripura Police and officials from the Railway Protection Force promptly arrived at the scene. Railway officials engaged in discussions with the villagers, attempting to address their grievances. However, the residents were adamant in their demand: the removal of the pillars obstructing the road crossing and the restoration of transportation routes in the area.
