Agartala, 16th July 2025:   Despite repeated assurances from authorities, residents of North Ekchhari in the Karbook subdivision are grappling with severe infrastructure neglect. The local road connecting Nutanbazar to several Bengali and Das Para villages has remained in disrepair for years, leading to intense frustration among villagers.

In July, residents staged a blockade demanding immediate road restoration. Braving political pressure, locals organized a large-scale protest, prompting the Karbook Sub-Divisional Magistrate to promise in writing that carpeting work would be completed within a year under the joint supervision of the Karbook Block Office and the Public Works Department today. However, villagers allege that these assurances have remained hollow, with patchwork repairs substituted for genuine improvements.

Even minimal rainfall renders the road unusable, affecting hundreds of families across Bengali Para, Das Para, and other remote clusters of North Ekchhari ADC Village. In addition, the hanging bridge over the Gomati River, a key link to Nutanbazar has become dangerously unstable sparking serious safety concerns.
