Agartala, 13th July 2024: Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Saturday said that such attacks and violence by the BJP before the election are a sign of weakness.
He stated that this is happening because the BJP doesn’t want to face the people, which is why they are launching attacks on individuals and opposition political parties.
“They did not get 61 percent of the votes in the last assembly elections. On the other hand, in the Lok Sabha elections, they got 70 to 71 percent of the votes by committing massive fraud. So the Bharatiya Janata Party realizes that a large section of people will not vote for them in the Panchayat elections,” Sarkar said.
He emphasized that people are well aware that this government is not taking any role in public welfare.
“As a result, they are trying to loot the Panchayat elections like in 2019 by using such terror, unable to think of how to stand in front of the people. The miscreants of the Bharatiya Janata Party tried to kill our candidate,” he added.

Agartala, 13th July 2024: The Tripura Left Front has announced a 12-hour bandh across the state on July 14 following the death of their Panchayat election candidate, Badal Shill (51), who succumbed to injuries sustained in an alleged assault by individuals linked to the BJP.
During a press conference, Tripura Left Front Convener Narayan Kar recounted the events of July 11, when CPIM workers, including Shill, were allegedly attacked by BJP-backed goons during the nomination submission process. Kar claimed that after returning to Rajnagar under Belonia Sub-division in the South District, Shill was attacked with sharp weapons. Later, Shill was reportedly dragged out of his shop in Chottakhola and brutally assaulted again.
The injured Shill was initially taken to Santirbazar District Hospital and subsequently referred to GB Pant Hospital, where he died after undergoing surgery. Kar called for a 12-hour bandh to protest Shill’s murder and urged the public to support this action, emphasizing the need for the state government to take strict measures against those responsible. He noted that emergency services would be exempt from the bandh’s purview.
