Agartala, 8th July 2025: Tension gripped the Gandhigram Primary Health Centre late last night as two alleged miscreants reportedly affiliated with the ruling party unleashed violence on hospital premises assaulting a woman and physically attacking attendants of a patient.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident took place around midnight near the Jai Sangha Club adjacent to the Gandhigram market area. The health centre, which remained operational at the time turned into a zone of chaos after an altercation escalated between the accused and the patient’s family members.
The attackers identified as Shyamal Dey and Pamir Das allegedly beat up the family members of a patient receiving treatment at the facility. A female relative was reportedly subjected to physical harassment during the assault.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage in the locality, with several residents condemning the brazen attack. “This is not the first time such elements have acted with impunity. One wonders when they will be held accountable,” said Dr. Babui, a senior medical officer at the facility.
Police confirmed that a formal complaint has been lodged at the local police station. An investigation is currently underway, and authorities have assured that necessary legal action will be taken.
