Agartala, 3rd January 2026:   Pratapgarh witnessed tense scenes late last night as violence broke out around the Kali Puja Dashami celebrations. Allegations surfaced that miscreants attacked and vandalized the local office of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), sparking widespread unrest in the area.

Local sources informed that the incident took place near the Pratapgarh Bridge in the 31st Assembly constituency, where Kali Puja festivities were underway. Locals also reported that a group of attackers stormed the BJP office, damaging furniture and tearing down photographs of the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister. Several motorcycles parked outside the office were also allegedly smashed during the assault.

Police rushed to the spot with a large force soon after receiving reports of the attack. Additional personnel were deployed to bring the situation under control. Officials confirmed that while order has been restored, tension continues to grip the locality.

Notably, hours after the incident, no official statement has been issued by the BJP’s top leadership. The silence has triggered speculation within political circles.

Police have launched an investigation and assured that those responsible will be identified and prosecuted swiftly. Meanwhile, the attack has left residents of Pratapgarh shaken, with an atmosphere of fear prevailing in the area.
