Water samples collected from river to measure idol immersion pollution

Date:

Agartala, October 15: The Tripura State Pollution Control Board has begun collecting water samples from Pratima Niranjan Ghat to assess the level of water contamination caused by idol immersion. An official from the Board stated that, as in previous years, samples will be collected from all ghats where idols are immersed to determine the pollution levels.

The metallic paints and colors used in the idols play a key role in contributing to water contamination. The official emphasized that toxic substances released during the immersion process are significantly increasing water pollution.

The Pollution Control Board will analyze the samples to measure the extent of pollution and prepare a report, which will be shared with relevant departments for further action.
