Agartala, 20th July 2024: In a successful operation acting on a tip-off, West Agartala Police arrested a notorious thief, recovering two stolen bikes in the process. Paritosh Das, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of West Agartala Police Station disclosed that further interrogation could reveal critical information about a larger gang of thieves.
OC Das explained that a case of bike theft was registered at the station on June 15, following numerous complaints of bike thefts from various locations in recent days. The police initiated an investigation based on these complaints.
Acting on undercover intelligence, they received news that a theft was being planned near Office Lane. The police set up a strategic operation, leading to the arrest of the thief as he arrived at the scene yesterday.
The arrested individual identified as Sameer Mallik from Jirania, has a history of involvement in multiple thefts. He is set to be presented in court under police remand today, where further details about the gang’s operations are expected to be uncovered.
