Agartala, October 20:  Dr. Vishal Kumar, the West District Magistrate, issued a stern warning to food sellers in Agartala city today, emphasizing that strict action will be taken in accordance with the law if adulterated food is served.

During Durgotsav, Dr. Vishal Kumar, the District Commissioner of West Tripura, stressed the importance of food safety.

In a meeting held at the district magistrate’s conference hall, guidelines were provided for food vendors from 43 markets. The District Magistrate stated, “If adulterated food is served, action will be taken according to the law.”

The purpose of today’s meeting was to educate all food traders in the West Tripura district about the rules and guidelines set forth by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) at the conference hall of the District Governor.

Dr. Vishal Kumar, the District Magistrate of West Tripura district, urged traders to offer healthy, high-quality, and fresh food products to visitors and buyers during the upcoming Shardotsava.

He emphasized, “Durga Puja is a festival of joy for everyone. Traders should ensure that there is no adulteration in the food. Good food should be provided at a reasonable profit. Edible oil, once used, cannot be reused. The festival season is a critical time. Therefore, thorough handwashing before cooking is imperative. Gloves should be used if necessary, and single-use plastic is prohibited. Buyers should bring their own bags if needed.”

Dr. Kumar assured that business establishments would be inspected to prevent food adulteration, and legal action would be taken if required. He urged buyers to inform the health department in case of significant issues, assuring that the administration would take appropriate action.
