Agartala, 8th July 2025: A state-level disaster management exercise will be conducted across Tripura on Wednesday, with special emphasis in the West Tripura district. The exercise will be held at 12 different locations—six focused on flood response and six on landslide preparedness.
Addressing the media after a review meeting with disaster management officials, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar informed that the drill will commence from Umakanta Maidan in Agartala. “The exercise is being organized to test the preparedness of all concerned agencies. After the launch, response teams will move to their assigned locations,” he said during the press conference at the District Magistrate’s conference hall on Tuesday.
In the Sadar subdivision alone, drills will be carried out at four key locations—Anandnagar Bottling Park, Vidyasagar Lake, MBB Lake, and IGM Hospital.
Personnel from Assam Rifles, Tripura Fire & Emergency Services, the state police, ONGC, and healthcare workers will participate in the operation. “The aim is not only to simulate real-time disaster response but also to evaluate the coordination and efficiency of teams engaged in natural disaster management,” Dr. Kumar added.
He further emphasized that the 2024 floods served as a wake-up call. “Given the severity of last year’s floods in Tripura, we are laying special focus on readiness and swift response this time,” he said.
