Agartala, 13th June 2026: The West Tripura District Police administration has rolled out stringent directives aimed at curbing the growing trend of police personnel creating Reels, short videos, and other content on social media while in uniform.
According to a memorandum issued by the office of the Superintendent of Police, West Tripura, pn June 11, higher authorities have observed instances of police officers uploading such content online. Officials warned that these actions risk damaging the image, discipline, and credibility of the Tripura Police in the eyes of the public.
The memorandum highlights several key directives in sentence form. It stresses that the police uniform represents authority, integrity, discipline, and public trust, and must always be treated with respect. Officers are prohibited from creating, participating in, or uploading social media content such as Reels, videos, or photographs in uniform if it compromises the dignity or decorum of the force. The use of the uniform for personal publicity, entertainment, or commercial promotions has been strictly forbidden. Senior officers have been instructed to exercise supervisory vigilance by monitoring subordinates and sensitizing them about the proper use of the uniform. Any objectionable content involving uniformed personnel must be promptly reported to higher authorities. Finally, violations of these directives will invite strict disciplinary action under established departmental rules.
