Wild Elephant Attack Injures Elderly Man in Teliamura

Agartala, 8th  February 2026 :  Teliamura witnessed another incident of wild elephant attack, creating panic among local residents. An elderly man was seriously injured after being attacked by a tusker elephant in the Champlai area of Chakmaghat.

According to local sources, the incident occurred this afternoon when the victim, identified as Dhananjay Biswas (aged over 60), was grazing cattle in the area. Suddenly, he came face to face with the elephant. In an attempt to save himself from the attack, he jumped into a nearby ditch, which resulted in severe injuries.

Hearing his cries, local residents rushed to the spot and rescued him. He was immediately taken to Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Doctors have stated that his condition remains critical.

Meanwhile, the renewed movement of a tusker elephant in the area has spread fear among villagers. Local residents have urged the Forest Department to take immediate and effective measures to prevent further such incidents and ensure public safety.
