Agartala, 31st March 2025: Tipra Motha Party founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma has clarified that the party’s alliance with the ruling BJP in Tripura does not equate to abandoning the fight for indigenous rights. Speaking at a mass gathering in Nepaltilla village under the Karamcherra Assembly Constituency in Dhalai District, Pradyot reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the welfare of the Tiprasa people.
“We may have aligned with the BJP, but that does not mean we will be silent. Tipra Motha remains steadfast in raising the voice of the indigenous community. Our concerns are being raised both on the ground and in the Assembly. This is not about party politics; this is about putting my people first and ensuring a better future for them. We are not afraid of anyone,” Pradyot asserted.
Positioning himself as a leader prioritizing community over politics, Pradyot emphasized that the fight for Greater Tipraland is not one to be waged with weapons but with intellect and determination. “Our struggle is for the future generations. For decades, political parties have come and gone—CPIM, Congress, BJP, IPFT, and even Tipra Motha—but no one has truly worked for the people. Because of this negligence, we have moved from being a majority to a minority in our own land. If you stand with me, in the next five years, we will have the power to bring real change,” he stated.
He further highlighted that significant funds sanctioned by the Centre remain stalled in Agartala, preventing the necessary development for indigenous communities. “I am the grandson of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Debbarma—I cannot betray my people,” Pradyot declared, reinforcing his allegiance to the Tiprasa cause.
The Tipra Motha chief’s statements indicate that while the party has strategically allied with the BJP, its core mission remains unchanged: securing the rights and future of the indigenous people of Tripura.
