Agartala, 18th November 2024: A tragic incident took place in the Deb Tilla area adjacent to Amtali, where a woman committed suicide following a minor family dispute. Shyamal Saha and his wife, Rita Saha, frequently argued over trivial matters. Despite their son and daughter-in-law’s efforts to mediate, the couple had another argument on Sunday night, which was resolved shortly after.
This afternoon, while a car driver Shyamal Saha was away, Rita Saha locked herself in her room and hanged herself. Her son found her body upon returning home and immediately alerted the neighbors and the police.
Amtali Police Station Sub-Inspector Sushmita Debnath, Sub-Inspector Ranjit Chowdhury, and other officers arrived at the scene. They recovered Rita Saha’s body and sent it to Tripura Medical College and Dr BRAM Teaching Hospital for an autopsy. An investigation has been initiated, and an unnatural death case has been registered. The deceased woman’s brother provided detailed information to journalists.
