Agartala, 8th September 2025 : A domestic dispute over soil dumping escalated into a violent assault in Taruninagar village under Fatikroy assembly constituency leaving a woman critically injured and hospitalized.
Local sources informed that the incident took place this afternoon when Anju Majumder, wife of Haripada Majumder returned home to find soil dumped inside her house. Upon inquiry, she learned that her neighbours Biplab Majumder, his wife Reena Majumder and their son Pankaj Majumder were allegedly responsible.
When Anju objected, tensions flared. The accused reportedly entered her home and assaulted her with sticks, beating her until she lost consciousness. Locals claim she was thrown to the ground and repeatedly struck. Her minor daughter, who attempted to record the attack on her mobile phone, was also allegedly beaten.
Local residents rushed Anju to the Fatikroy Primary Health Centre. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was referred to the Unakoti District Hospital in Kailashahar, where she remains in critical condition.
Anju’s family has lodged a written complaint at Fatikroy police station against Biplab Majumder and his family. However, the accused are reportedly absconding and have yet to be arrested.
Family members allege that Anju had previously protested against the sale of narcotics from Biplab Majumder’s residence, suggesting that the attack may have stemmed from longstanding animosity.
The incident has sparked unrest in Taruninagar, with residents demanding swift police action.
